About This Course
This course focuses on the qualification requirements to get a Professional Geologist (PG) license in California and upcoming changes that applicants should understand. It will also provide an overview of the California laws and regulations that govern the practice of geology. Knowledge of California’s Geologist and Geophysicist Act along with the accompanying regulations is one of the responsibilities that is part of being a licensed professional.
The course presenter is Laurie Racca, PG 6980, Senior Registrar, Geology and Geophysics, California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
Students are expected to learn the following when they take this course:
- What is required to obtain a professional geologist license in California
- What the most common misconceptions about professional licensure in California are
- What the most common sources for complaints and violations of practice and conduct are
This is an asynchronous short-course that contains videos, resources for learning more, and a set of questions in each section to help facilitate learning. An asynchronous course is a course that can be done on your own time. Feel free to pause, take a break, and come back to your saved progress to continue with the course. There is no deadline for completion of this course.
